But why the name “UnPausable Women”?

Because honestly, menopause is tough. And some days, it can be really hard to push on.

But as women… As mothers, as daughters, as sisters - we push on.  Not always for ourselves, but for those who love, need and depend on us.

So “UnPausable Women” is not just the name of this newsletter…
But a reminder.

A reminder that:

You are worthy.
You are beautiful, in-control and unstoppable.

Your mind wanders to the worst case scenario.

You wonder if it’s forgetfulness or something more.

The good news is that you’re likely experiencing a change in memory from the usual suspect: your hormones.

Join us as we explore how and why your memory changes and what you can do to keep your mind sharp.

Feeling like your brain is wrapped in a fog? You're not alone; there's more to it than getting older.

An article by Harvard Heath shares recent research highlights that cognitive hiccups during menopause are more about the severity of menopause symptoms than just aging.

Dr. Heather Hirsch and Dr. Hadine Joffe emphasize that while hot flashes are well-known, brain fog can significantly disrupt daily life.

The exact cause?

It’s likely tied to the drop in estrogen, impacting brain functions.

The good news is that this cognitive fog is often temporary and tends to get better post-menopause.

To manage brain fog, try these strategies:

  • Stay calm
Panicking worsens memory issues. Be kind to yourself; menopause brings intense changes that come and go.

  • Challenge yourself
Shake up routines. Take different routes to familiar places and explore new ways of doing things to create fresh memories.

  • Get moving
Regular exercise boosts your brain and body, enhancing cognition.

  • Focus
Slow down and tackle one task at a time to avoid getting overwhelmed.

  • Write it down
Use sticky notes, lists, and reminders to stay organized and reduce stress.

  • Sleep more
Improve your sleep by cutting back on caffeine, especially after lunch, to help combat menopause-related insomnia.

  • Treat underlying conditions
Address depression or mood issues with therapy, medication, or a combination of both.

Above all else, remember to be patient and kind to yourself. The menopause transition is different for everyone. With the right knowledge and support, you can confidently navigate this phase, emerging stronger than ever.
